Great question! My life experience, both personal and in my work with others, is that we have a remarkable ability to deny a great deal of our “inner” pain, bury it, if you will. Then sometimes, when we let ourselves feel that pain, instead of seeking to be healed, we may use it to make excuses for ourselves or to control others.
You’re right. I was thinking of my own relation to pain and how facing it has made me stronger. I do know people who have buried theirs. Thanks for your comment.
How would you avoid either?
