O Divine Spirit,
you are the itch

the melody I can’t

You are the thorn

On a starless night,
many years ago,
you asked me to give up
my illusion of control.
I struggled, I wept,
I bowed in submission. Now,
many starless nights later,
you ask me to surrender
all illusion of self
separate from you.
I struggle, I weep,
I place my heart,

on the altar of Love,
