You need this,
she said unexpectedly,
peering into my troubled eyes,
this woman, this casual acquaintance,
apparently aware of my circumstance,
the one which had been draining,
straining, and mercilessly
The days ground on
and her words kept rattling,
reverberating in my abused brain
like the endless taunts
of a childhood bully.
But as I continued
to encounter “my circumstance,”
these “taunts” gradually morphed into a mantra
and letting go became a little easier each day,
sleep a little sounder,
and I began to understand
surrender as if for the first time
and to celebrate anew this mystery,
this thing called grace.

Sometimes we forget it is what it is… there is a reason, a purpose.. let it be. Truly insightful, thank you for the reminder.
And thank you for sharing your thought. Peace!
Loved this longer more personal glimpse into your soul!
Happy to open that window. Thanks for your response.
Does ‘you need this’ refer to a suffering as a gateway to grace?
The “you need this” was actually spoken as I wrote in the post and came from out of the blue. In response to your question, more accurately, I believe everything is potentially a gateway for grace and at certain times in a life, certain circumstances are especially significant in opening one up to “new life.” Suffering seems to hold a special place among all the possibilities and the potential opening up more profound. Thanks for your response and question. Peace!
Yes, grace is an incomparable gift. I like your poetry. Well done.
Thank you and peace to you and your loved ones!
I read your words, Dennis…and perhaps I heard the ones you did not speak in my heart. I send you white healing light…energy of love and I want you to know we will forever be connected. Many blessings ❤
And the blessings flow in return. Thanks and Peace!

Grace is a concept I have pondered often, especially granting grace to myself. The Anne part of my name means ‘grace’ so I should know what it means to me but it continues to be a paradox. I am glad your circumstances are easing. May I offer you a lovingkindness meditation I recently learned:
May you be happy
May you be peaceful
May you be healthy
May you live in ease
This meditation is also a paradox. Gosh! I suspect all of life is. 🙂
Ah, yes. A paradox! Ain’t that the truth! 😊
A wonderful release and healing before awakening. Thank you for sharing Dennis. 🙏
And thanks for your response.
