If we let it,
life, with all its loses,
disappointments and sufferings,
will strip the multiple layers
of self-centeredness from us
to reveal the divine energy
forever present, charged and
ready to be released
for compassion, forgiveness,
and peacemaking.

I agree, Dennis, though the hardest part can be when we need to exercise those virtues toward ourselves as well as others. Bless you for sharing your God-given wisdom here, my friend. Your words always hit the spot! 😊
I’m in my 70’s, Joy, and I can vouch for the hardness of this stuff, especially if we think we can leave out the “surrender” part. 🙏
I’m in my 60s Dennis, and never has surrender been quite so prominent in my faith journey. It’s something we have a lifetime to learn and try to achieve, knowing that only God’s grace can make it remotely possible for us.
Amen! 🙏
wow, awesome piece of wisdom for me to today! 69 today…
Birthday greetings! Here’s to a healthy year! Peace!
Beautifully written Dennis. 🙏
Thank you, Val.

Great post! 🙂

It sounds like being scrubbed clean by misfortune.
Depending on the openness of our heart, perhaps that can be an appropriate metaphor.
Yes, the openness not a given.
I particularly love the the idea that when we “strip the multiple layers / of self-centeredness from us” that’s where find the divine. Aging has seemed to do that for me (62 next week) but also meditation which seems a little paradoxical – like the idea of self and non-self.
A blessed birthday in advance!! I’ve got more than 10 years on you and am so grateful to be able to continue learning and growing. And, indeed, the landscape of our life is rife with paradoxes. Peace. 🙏
