Do not desire suffering…

Do not desire suffering,
but treat it with humility and respect
when it appears at your door,
for it is a bearer of profound truth
and is able to share with you
transforming secrets
of wisdom and compassion.

  1. Some people become very good at suffering, Dennis. I just finished reading “Man’s Search for Meaning” (Viktor Frankl) where he suggests suffering is one way to find meaning. I feel I have gotten better moving through my pain, but I wish to gather my lessons and move on. I respect all I have learned, but do not want to ‘desire’ this kind of transformation. It sounds strange when I read it back, but I think you will get what I mean.
    Blessings ❤

    • I would be seriously concerned about anyone who would desire suffering, so I am glad you would not choose that path. If only our choices held the power to control. Alas, they don’t, and sometimes we get smacked around by life like a little rag doll when we can only hold on, sometimes with a faith that feels like fingertips, and try to endure, needing to remind ourselves over and over that we are more than our suffering. I know that you know this intimately because you have experienced it intimately. And in return, yes, I know what you mean. Peace!
