We wear our doubts
about our worth
like a heavy back pack
of unsympathetic stones
forcing us to bend body and soul
to balance the burden of its weight
as we press forward to carry on.
So used to this merciless load
do we become that we forget
we were not born with it
and that it’s possible
to undo the bindings
and lay it down
at the sacred altar
of God’s love.

So true, Dennis. It is amazing what can become normal… and how difficult a task it can be some days to just set down the bag… It’s as if we think there’s a gold brick in there, too, mixed in with the rocks… 🙂

Thanks. Wish I had thought of that “gold brick” delusion. Would have worked great in the piece. Have a blessed day. ~Dennis
Dennis…yes! I wish we could sit together and talk…for hours and hours. I would hang on your every word. The words that come from your soul speak directly to mine ❤
Thanks, Lorrie. It is always good to get affirmation for what we are doing. But blogging, as much as it has been a blessing for me, also has its limitations. So be it. I wish you joyful peace and love. ~Dennis
“Unsympathetic stones” – I love it!
Thanks. It felt very right when that line popped into my head. Have a “sympathetic” day. ~Dennis
And what do we say to those who, with misguided empathic intent to “help us” along our way, add yet another unsympathetic stone to our pack as they pass passionately through our lives?
Ah, if only the particular flowed smoothly from the general. But each particular relationship, I think, is a kind of a dance we must learn to do with as much integrity as we can muster. In the process feet will probably always be stepped on. Thanks for the thought to ponder. Peace! ~Dennis
I loved the image of a “heavy back pack of unsympathetic stones.” That is exactly the way it feels to me. Wonderful insights here as usual, Dennis.
Thank you, Anne. That is my favorite line in the post. Have a day full of peace and joy! ~Dennis
Oh yes! For all our worth is tied up in Him
Amen!
Brilliant !
Thanks. I appreciate your reply. Peace! Dennis
Yes, that’s true. I tried to think of another word to use that sums up what you wrote, but ..True is it.
Thanks for that. Peace! ~Dennis

Wow, this made me stop and rethink some of my burdens. Timely for me as I look to let go of some past pains. (((hugs)))
Best wishes for your time of letting go. Peace and joy! ~Dennis
Peace and Joy right back to you, Dennis!
