How quick I am to name, sometimes,
the addictions of family and neighbors,
not always from concern or love, I admit,
but often from my own addiction
to feeling superior and favored.© 2014 Dennis Ference

Thanks, Cindy. Reflection in one’s later years can be quite enlightening and freeing. Peace! ~Dennis
Dennis,
these honest words apply to so many of us, almost all i venture to say.

My joy to share this. Peace and love in return! ~Dennis
I think feelings of superiority are characteristic of the enabler too. Great insight Dennis. I have to make my own confession though, I’ve seen too many pictures of women and children brutalized and murdered by those under the influence to work objectively with substance abusers. The counselors who can help those with addictions are doing society as well as the addict a great service.
Thank you for that thoughtful sharing. So much pain. So much need. May we all be instruments of healing according to our own gifts and talents. Peace! ~Dennis
Again – you say so much in so few words. I will be sharing this one.
