Be Still

Be still and know
that I am God. ~Ps 46:10

How hard I have tried
to get to where I already live
Be still…
to learn what I already know
Be still…
to find what I already have
Be still…
to be who I already am
Be still…
How hard I have tried….
Be still…
Be still

  1. Great reminder! It is often hard to rest in ourselves by resting in the God within us. Psalm 46 is one of my favorites…what an awesome reminder of God’s stable nature in the midst of our changing lives.

  2. It is one of the hardest things, isn’t it? To be who we are in God. Nothing to prove. Nothing more required. I’m enjoying your poetry.

  3. Maybe we often try too hard. As you note, being still is the key to much that is worthy in life, in our faith. We forget to feel the breath of God that sweeps across us every moment of every day when we stop and…be still…Peace and kindness to you, Dennis.

    • I think being still in God’s Presence allows life to come to us. But consciously or unconsciously our desire for control makes simply being seem impossible or perhaps too scary(?). Some of us probably never experience the bliss of the present moment and so don’t know we can choose it. Thanks, Cynthia. May this Christmas find you blissfully at peace with God.
