Leave your boat on shore,
overturned by the weight
of your fears, judgments,
and anxious expectations,
and walk naked into the water
that calls you to know again
the timeless rhythms
of the Creator’s touch.

I will at least require flip flops in the midst of such eutrophication… 🙂
Seriously, I kind of like that the water in this image isn’t perfectly pristine looking– that it isn’t stunningly inviting– because if this abandoning ship were the obvious route, we’d all be taking it, right? It’s not easy to leave the craft behind, to be so vulnerable… I’ve got one foot in the water, (in a wader boot), my pants in a logjam around the other ankle, my shirt-turned-strait jacket knotted over my head keeping my vision obscured and my arms in a yogic pose of little subtlety, and if a strong wind blows maybe I’ll fall over and get wet.
Sorry, Dennis. I just couldn’t make the serious part stick tonight…
